The Importance of Grounding Excess Energy After Doing a Spell or Ritual

During any type of magickal workings there is energy that is unused to complete it. This energy, especially if it is allowed to build up over time can cause minor or major problems usually with electronic devices. So grounding the extra energy every single time you do a spell and/or ritual whether you are doing inside or outside of a sacred circle must be grounded to Mother Earth. She should be told the energy is here to use however it will help her. You should also do this anytime you cast a circle for any reason.

To ground the excess energy raise your hands palm facing downward, as far as you can than slowly bring them down until you touch the ground of outside of the floor inside. If you cannot bring your hand all the way down bring them.as close to the ground or floor as you can and then imagine the energy being pushed down from that level into Mother Earth.

Wether you are working alone as a Solitary or in a Coven this is a very important piece of the spell.and/or ritual to especially when I’m your home.

I have a sister who had practiced for a few years grounding the extra energy only when she felt like it which was not that often. One  day many years ago we were talking about witch stuff and she was explaining  some problems she was having with the lights on her altar along with the fact her desktop computer, which was in the same room wasn’t working right at all and no scans could find anything wrong. After explaining the importance of grounding she did a major grounding of the built up excess energy over the years including grounding herself. The next day her computer and lights in the room started working right again.

When I forget to ground excess energy, we all can for her sometimes, after doing a quick spell in my den which is also the room I use as my sacred space/altar room, it builds up and starts blowing up light bulbs somewhere in my home. So try not to let this happen very often, replacing light bulbs can be expensive…lol Even after lighting and putting out an empowered I ground this excess energy. I have a healing candle that I normally light daily to help with my fibromyalgia pain, so I ground excess energy almost every day. Yes sometime I for get to do it after I put the candle out and if I have not done anything else like a spell, ritual of a circle for some reason it does not cause me a problem but if I do not ground the excess energy after lighting the candle two days it will cause some  type of electrical problem in my, as I really  refer to it, witch cave, will.happen or in the bathroom that you enter into through my witch cave.

Besides feeding your intention in to your the other very important thing is to always ground excess energy as soon as your magical work is done. If you are working in a circle ground the excess energy before opening the circle.

How to Understand and Make a Sacred Medicine Wheel by MATEO SOL

When you think of “medicine” what is the first thing that comes to mind?

For many modern people, medicine is associated with drugs, surgical procedures, nurses, dentists, or doctors that all improve one’s physical health. However, “medicine” in many past ancient cultures was understood as an interrelated process of physical and spiritual well-being. Medicine was once thought of as a way of being in harmony with the primal energy of nature, and a way of becoming aware of the personal power within each of us that allows us to become more whole and complete.

Before we based our lives on beliefs and interpretations of “holy scriptures,” we looked to the surrounding world for answers and we observed the rhythm of nature to guide our existence. What we discovered is that life behaves in cycles or circles rather than Cartesian “line” that we perceive time and existence these days. We discovered that the seasons came and went in cycles as did the Sun cycles and Moon phases, and we observed that even living beings like humans, trees and animals worked in cycles of births, death and rebirth.

With this understanding of life came a respect for the sacredness of the circle, and its medicinal …

Winter Solstice also called Yule

This is the time of the shortest day and longest night in the year. I use the early darkness to go out in my backyard usually to listen to the squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits getting the dems ready for the cold months of they are not already bedded down but this year it is like late fall or early spring temperatures so they are all still fairly active. I also use it as a time to think back over the last year both the good and bad parts of it. There were many changes in my families life some brought tears of happiness and others years of sadness and/or frustration. But everything happens for a reason only known at times to the gods and goddesses.

What was year like good or bad or some of both?

The Winter Solstice – Yule Lore

The date of this sabbat varies from December 20 to December 23 depending on the year in the Gregorian calendar.  The winter solstice is celebrated at this time in the northern hemisphere but it is now time to celebrate the summer solstice (Litha) in the southern hemisphere due to the seasonal differences.

Yule, (pronounced EWE-elle) is when the dark half of the year relinquishes to the light half. Starting the next morning at sunrise, the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer in the sky each day. Known as Solstice Night, or the longest night of the year, the sun’s “rebirth” was celebrated with much joy. On this night, our ancestors celebrated the rebirth of the Oak King, the Sun King, the Giver of Life that warmed the frozen Earth. From this day forward, the days would become longer.

Bonfires were lit in the fields…

Week 3 – More Information on and Images of Gaia

This is a link for a general search for the Goddess Gaia, there are a few different spellings of her name as there are with all Gods and Goddesses.

Gaia Information

Gaia’s image has been depicted in many ways through different cultures so explorer the images until one jumps out at you like your idea of what she may look like.

Gaia Images

When I am asked what kind of Witch I am, first let me say I really do not like to label anyone as one type of Witch or another because to me that is narrow-minded thinking, but my answer is, “I’m an Earth Witch.” Because I work a lot with Gaia in her form as Mother Earth and the Triple Goddess. I can feel her wax and wane during the seasons of the year and my spirit, mind, and body flow along with her. I suppose in Neo-Pagan terms, I am an Eclectic Witch.

I also work with the Moon Goddess Luna or The Triple Goddess depending on what I am doing and when. I just never think or picture Luna as a Crone. The reason I work with her is she and Gaia work in a beautiful dance of harmony to help all living beings on this planet to live.

As for Gods, my main go to for many things is Ra especially if I am doing a spell and/or ritual during the day. He also works in harmony with Luna and Gaia to keep the planet we live on not to hot or cold and offers us his light. His light and warmth are very important during the growing seasons to help ensure a bountiful harvest. Whichever name for the Sun God you prefer is fine.

From Gaia, Ra, and Luna the elements of Air, Water, Fire, Earth, and Spirit are possible.

The above mentioned Gods and Goddesses are who I prefer to work with. Each person needs to find the deity or deities they find it easiest to work with most of the time. There are times to branch out to different ones that may help with a specific spell and/or ritual. Example when I doing healing work I call upon Kwan Yin (oriental Goddess) and Sirona (Celtic Goddess) to work through me to help whoever I am sending healing to.

Week 3 – Goddess Knowledge – Gaia

This week we are going to find out more about the Goddess Gaia. Which is also another name given to Mother Earth by Neo-Pagans.

GAIA

Gaia existed before everything; she existed before time. Gaia, the eternal, prehistoric earth mother goddess,, is fertility incarnate, moist, mysterious, strong. She is life energy itself; everything that lives, breathing or not, overflows with her life. She is the earth and all powers of the earth. Gaia is not always a consoling goddess: standing for life and generation without thought of consequence, she has energy and a power that must be approached carefully. All bodies eventually return to her, into the black, fertile earth, to be devoured and to receive her life to live again. As goddess of the soul, Gaia reminds us that the soul develops in dark places and that ultimately soul must be rooted in the body, in earth. She is a reminder that we must ground ourselves into the reality of nature and incorporate all sides of ourselves, be the pleasant or unpleasant, light or dark.

Gaia is also known as Mother Earth here is a link for more information on this name for the same Goddess: Information about Mother Earth

The general search for images of Mother Earth is basically the same as for Gaia.

Ways Of Casting The Runes

Since I posted this before posting the meaning of each tune, I will wait to post all the runes and their meanings tomorrow.

Witches Of The Craft®

Ways Of Casting The Runes

There are probably hundreds of different ways to lay the runes for a casting. What is given here is
only a selection. It is by no means exhaustive.

I would suggest that you try some of these, going for the ones with which you feel comfortable before
trying your own ideas out. The reasons for this are many, not least of which it is important to
familiarise yourself with the runes and how they are read as a group before progressing.

It should also be remembered that you may have some personal thoughts on the meanings of the runes
at the time you are carrying out the casting, which you should not dismiss out of hand. The meanings
given here are basic, and again by no means exhaustive. You may for example wish to use all
the reverse meanings given, even though some runes look…
