WHERE:

Coven Life’s Chatroom

What you will need:

A purple candle. (If you don’t have purple, use white)

Lighter or matches.

An amulet  (preferably small enough to hold in your hand).

As we will be doing a ritual for protection, you may want to decorate your altar with lavender, amethyst, or other items you may have that are purple.

RITUAL

Tonight we are honoring the full moon, known as the Hare Moon. There are many legends and folk tales of the hare and the image of him on the moon. In most, it is a tale of virtue that brings good fortune to the person that unselfishly gives of himself to help others. A great lesson to learn. It is a moon of abundance, growth, and protection. We will use this energy to empower an amulet to provide protection. I will now call the Watchtowers.

MAIA: I call the Watchtower of the East to protect those inside and outside our circle today.

I call upon the Watchtower of the South to protect those inside and outside our circle today.

I call upon the Watchtower of the West to protect those inside and outside our circle today.

I call upon the Watchtower of the North to protect those inside and outside our circle today.

Please open your quarters and please hear our call.

I call upon Spirit to guide us in peace and love.

I ask the Goddess Diana to walk this circle three times three to lend us her power and energy as we gather here today. Let us come together and celebrate the lunar Goddess and the power she brings.

Merry greet brothers and sisters of the craft.

EVERYONE: Please type your name and country you live in.

MAIA: We gather here this day to ask the Goddess for protection from harm to our physical or mental well being. Let no one cause injury or heartache to our body or soul and may we be mindful to not cause pain for others.

EVERYONE: Please light your candle.

Please hold the item you have chosen to empower in your hands. Close your eyes and feel the item. See the item in your mind’s eye. Envision a protective barrier surrounding the item. Take 2 minutes to make the item your own personal amulet.

EVERYONE: When ready, type As I will it So Mote It Be!

Carry your amulet to feel protected or if it is large, place it by the front door of your house. It can be on a chain on your neck, hang from your rearview mirror, on a keychain, etc. Remember the power your amulet holds is the energy you have given it….recharge it by holding it in your hand and meditating.

MAIA: I dismiss the Watchtower of the East with thanks for their energy and protection here today.

I dismiss the Watchtower of the South with thanks for their energy and protection here today.

I dismiss the Watchtower of the West with thanks for their energy and protection here today.

I dismiss the Watchtower of the North with thanks for their energy and protection here today.

I dismiss Spirit from our circle with love and thanks.

I thank the Goddess Diana for her presence here today and for lending us her energy for protection. Please return from where you came.

Extinguish the candle safely.

The circle is open, but not broken. Go in perfect love and perfect trust.

Thank you, brothers and sisters, for joining us here today. Until Merry, we meet again.

September 1, 2016 Luna Eclipse/New Moon

Tonight is not only time for New or Dark Moon magic, it is also a Lunar Eclipse. With that in mind, I wanted to remind you that spells and/or rituals will be strong than usual and a different type of energy will be at work. Spellwork under an eclipse should only be done by witches with advanced training as it takes a lot more focus and intention to have the spell work hopefully right than most beginners to The Craft have learned to do. Also just because you are an experienced witch does not guarantee your spell working properly when done under a Lunar Eclipse. Beginner/novice witches would better use this time in a mediation session inside a sacred circle.

Besides the informational posts the follow this one, here is a link for a general search on Google for lunar eclipse spells and magic: https://www.google.com/search?q=lunar+eclipse+spells&oq=lunar+eclipse+spells&aqs=chrome..69i57.13703j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Eclipse Meditation Ritual

Eclipses are opportunities for major transformation; this is a time when the energies of the lunations ar more amplified and focused.

Solar eclipses always occur on the New Moon, and Lunar eclipses occur on the Full Moon. The eclipses reflect the lunation they correspond to, but they’re much more intense and their effects are more long-lasting, so it is a powerful time for rituals of transformation and release.
Eclipse Meditation Ritual
You will need:
a white candle
salt
purified or spring water
incense
small pieces of paper and pen

Take a ritual bath (add hyssop and lavender if you have it, salt if you do not) and visualize yourself releasing any blocks and fears, and affirm that you are ready to take yourself to the next level, and face the truth with an open heart and mind.

After your bath, sit in front of your altar, and do some basic grounding and rhythmic breathing. (You can ground by imagining your spine growing roots that grow down into the earth, and with each inhale, breathe in the energy from the core of the Earth… with each exhale, release anything you need to release, i.e. fears, doubt, sadness, apathy, etc. The earth can turn almost anything into fertilizer, so transform your “negatives” into something you can use!)

Drumming is a great way to get you in the correct meditationalstate as well… one of the fastest ways to reach alpha state is to follow the tempo of the heartbeat with your drum.

Pour the salt into the water, and clear yourself with it by lightly sprinkling yourself and annointing yourself with it.

Light your candle. Meditate on the symbolism of the flame, that fire transforms and illuminates, and stare into the flame for a while, and ask for clarity and truth during this eclipse cycle. Give yourself permission to release any and all thought formsthat no longer serve your highest good.

1.a. What area of my life needs some new ideas and a fresh perspective?

b. Write it down on a small piece of paper, and create an affirmation supporting your new goal.

2.a. How can I break through restrictive “safe” constructs, to be fully alive and, like the Phoenix, be reborn thru transformation?
Repeat step “b”.

Save those pieces of paper for later.

3. Write down on the remaining pieces of paper (one at a time) what keeps you from achieving the goals you are after… focus on it, then say something like:
“All energy is neutral. I now release and transform this energy into an energy source that can be utilized for the highest good for all concerned (or “in the name of Goddess / Universe /
God / Creator” etc.)

Burn the paper, focusing on the transformation of the energy.
When you feel like you’re clear, thank the Deities, energies, spirits, guides, angels, etc. you’ve worked with, and bury the ashes in the earth, and imagine your goals for transformation fulfilled. Blessed Be.

The use of symbols can sometimes help make a spell more powerful… let your imagination guide you as you set up your personal lunar altar.

– use white or silver candles and altar cloths

– Lunar Goddesses: Isis, Artemis, Diana, Hecate, Kwan Yin

– Lunar Herbs: mugwort, camphor, sandalwood

-Lunar Metal: silver

– Lunar Stones: moonstone, selenite, pearl, mother of pearl, sapphire

– draw the symbol for the Moon on your candles

– make a medicine bag representing what you want to transform and consecrate it; carry your medicine bag next to your skin

– tell no one about your spell work!

– make a strong floor wash out of mugwort and a pinch of camphor, and clean ritual area and psychic tools with it.

Nature of Eclipse Magic and Spells during the Eclpise!

Understanding the meaning of a lunar eclipse

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon and a lunar eclipse can only occur on a Full Moon, a very special Full Moon. You can understand the power of a lunar eclipse with this parallel, if a Solar eclipse challenges your logic and your authority in your life a lunar eclipse will challenge your emotional readiness for a change. During a lunar eclipse a witch will face his/her insecurity, you must not only be able to imagine that a change can occur and what will this change bring but you must also have the willpower to proclaim: “I am ready and perfectly prepared for this change and I will make it happen”. A lunar eclipse is the perfect timing to face the past and find out the roots of your fears/insecurities, how they are linked to you, your emotions and your current state of being. To that personal journey you are advised to seek the guidance of your allies: angels, fairies, ghosts of loved ones, your higher self, the God(s) that will help you in your quest for truth and the time of the eclipse is perfect for that as it will allow you to contact ‘other worlds” and “other states of being”.

Spellcasting during an eclipse

As a piece of advice never try spellcasting during an eclipse, unless you are very well prepared for this. Not only natural powers run loose and you will find difficult to ground them but the outcome of your spells cannot easily be predicted. It takes both a disciplined and experienced witch to harvest the power of the eclipse and is certainly not advised for beginners. An alternative to spellcasting can be contemplation and meditation on what you have experienced so far in your life. In addition, it is a good time to honour yourself, the Gods and beings of other worlds.
To take it one step further you may wish to initiate a contact with the Divine Forces. I will use Fairies as an example as they are the beings that I have most experience working with during my life. So during an eclipse you can establish your first connection with the Fairies. Be aware that you must know well why you want to contact fairies and please bear in mind that curiosity is not a good reason. For all of you who are interested about the Fairies or Sidhe I will prepare a series of articles about them however I am facing some major life changes at the moment and my time is limited (you can blame the eclipses for that :-). In case you want more information about the Fairies you can always contact the Greek Alchemist who will pass the message to me.

Mabon Rites & Rituals

Depending on your individual spiritual path, there are many different ways you can celebrate Mabon, the autumn equinox, but typically the focus is on either the second harvest aspect, or the balance between light and dark. This, after all, is the time when there is an equal amount of day and night. While we celebrate the gifts of the earth, we also accept that the soil is dying. We have food to eat, but the crops are brown and going dormant. Warmth is behind us, cold lies ahead. Here are a few rituals you may want to think about trying — and remember, any of them can be adapted for either a solitary practitioner or a small group, with just a little planning ahead.

1.  10 Ways to Celebrate Mabon

On or around September 21, for many Pagan, Mabon is a time of giving thanks for the things we have, whether it is abundant crops or other blessings. It is also a time of balance and reflection, following the theme of equal hours light and dark. Here are some ways you and your family can celebrate this day of bounty and abundance. Read More About 10 Ways to Celebrate Mabon More »

2.  Setting Up Your Mabon Altar

Mabon is the time when many Pagans and Wiccans celebrate the second part of the harvest. This Sabbat is about the balance between light and dark, with equal amounts of day and night. Try some or even all of these ideas — obviously, space may be a limiting factor for some, but use what calls to you most. Read More About Setting Up Your Mabon Altar

3.  Create a Food Altar

In most Pagan traditions, Mabon, the autumn equinox, is a time when we’re gathering the bounty of the fields, the orchards and the gardens, and bringing it in for storage. Often, we don’t realize how much we’ve collected until we pile it all together – why not invite friends or other members of your group, if you’re part of one, to gather their garden treasures and place them on your Mabon altar during ritual? 4.  Ritual to Honor the Dark Mother

Demeter and Persephone are strongly connected to the time of the Autumn Equinox. When Hades abducted Persephone, it set in motion a chain of events that eventually led to the earth falling into darkness each winter. This is the time of the Dark Mother, the Crone aspect of the triple goddess. The goddess is bearing this time not a basket of flowers, but a sickle and scythe. She is prepared to reap what has been sown.Read More About Honoring the Dark

5.  Hold a Mabon Apple Harvest Ritual

In many pantheons, the apple is a symbol of the Divine. Apple trees are representative of wisdom and guidance. This apple ritual will allow you time to thank the gods for their bounty and blessings, and to enjoy the magic of the earth before the winds of winter blow through. Read More About Holding an Apple Harvest Rite for Mabon More »

6.  Mabon Balance Meditation

Mabon is traditionally a time of balance. After all, it’s one of the two times each year that has equal amounts of darkness and daytime. Because this is, for many people, a time of high energy, there is sometimes a feeling of restlessness in the air, a sense that something is just a bit “off”. If you’re feeling a bit spiritually lopsided, with this simple meditation you can restore a little balance into your life.Read More About Performing a Mabon Balance Meditation More »

7.  Hold a Hearth & Home Rite for Mabon

Mabon is a time of balance, and a good time to celebrate the stability of the hearth and home. This ritual is a simple one designed to place a barrier of harmony and protection around your property. You can do this as a family group, as a coven, or even as a solitary. Read More on How to Hold a Mabon Hearth & Home RitualMore »

8.  Hold a Gratitude Ritual

Are you thankful for the things you have — both material and spiritual? Want to sit down and count your blessings? Why not perform this simple gratitude rite, in which you can enumerate the things you have that make you feel fortunate? After all, Mabon is a time of giving thanks. Read More About How to Hold a Gratitude Ritual More »

9.  Celebrate the Autumn Full Moon

Some Pagan groups prefer to have a season-specific full moon ceremony, in addition to marking the Sabbats. During the autumn months, the harvest season begins with the Corn Moon in late August, and continues through September’sHarvest Moon and the Blood Moon of October. If you’d like to celebrate one or more of these moon phases with a ritual specific to the harvest, it’s not hard. This rite is written for a group of four people or more, but if you needed to, you could easily adapt it for a solitary practitioner. Read More About Celebrating the Autumn Full Moon More »

Samhian – Day 4

Samhain History

What is Samhain?:

Samhain is known by most folks as Halloween, but for many modern Pagans it’s considered a Sabbat to honor the ancestors who came before us, marking the dark time of the year. It’s a good time to contactthe spirit world with a seance, because it’s the time when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest.

A Thought for Today

To me, a pentacle means a oneness with everything around me. The reason for this is it encompasses all the elements which we and other living things are created from. The top point spirit reminds me that the mother goddess is always with me and watching over me. When I place my pentagram on my altar I know I will be bring other living things into my circle to learn from and possibly draw some energy from for my ritual and/or spell I am casting.

What does the pentagram and/or pentacle mean to you personally?

Drawing Down the Full Moon Ritual

Full Moon Ritual (with Drawing Down into moonstones)

A group of us got together to perform this ritual. It is based on one they did 5 years ago. At that time, they drew the moon down into one of the other participants so it originally had more protective elements built into that ritual. This is a shortened version for drawing down the moon into the Moonstones.

Portions taken from a ritual at
http://blessedbe.sugarbanse.com/fullmoons.htm

Items needed:

Moonstones

Candles: white, red, black

Cakes and ale

Ground & Center
(as usual)
Cast the Circle

(walking around the circle first with the white candle, then with the red candle, and thirdly with the black candle)

(light the white candle)

Maiden, cast your circle white, Weave a web of healing light.

Round and Round the Circle’s Cast, Joining Present, Future and Past

(light the red candle)

Mother, cast your circle red, Weave the strands of family threads.

This Sacred Space shall now be Bound, As I cast this Circle Round.

(light the black candle)

Grandmother Crone, cast your circle black, Weave the wisdom that we lack.

Thrice is the Circle cast this Night and thus begins our Magick Rite.
Call the Elements

Hail Mighty Ones of the Airy Tower. Guard this circle with your power.

Powers of Air weave the round, Between the worlds the power bound.

Till we send it at the last, Guardians keep it strong and fast.”

“Hail Mighty Ones of the Fiery Tower. Guard this circle with your power.

Powers of Fire weave the round, Between the worlds the power bound.

Till we send it at the last, Guardians keep it strong and fast.”

“Hail Mighty Ones of Water’s Tower. Guard this circle with your power.

Powers of Water weave the round, Between the worlds the power bound.

Till we send it at the last, Guardians keep it strong and fast.”

“Hail Mighty Ones of the Earthly Tower. Guard this circle with your power.

Powers of Earth weave the round, Between the worlds the power bound.

And allowing us to feel Your presence within our hearts.

Bless these stones, infusing them with Your divine wisdom”
Petition the Goddess

“Goddess of grace, Goddess of power, Goddess of wisdom,

We come here from our separate ways with our separate troubles,

We join together to celebrate and welcome you on this night,

We ask you to show us what we need to be shown,

To give us the things we need to be given,

And ease our hearts’ strife where we require ease,

Goddess we come to ask this and ask your power within us and these stones to guide us”

Stay if you can, Go if you must, with Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.

(extinguish the red candle)

White Circle Round, now be Unbound as I make my way around.

My Work is finished for the Night/Day and now I End my Magick Rite/Way.”

(extinguish the white candle)

Thrice Cast, and Thrice released

The Circle is open, but unbroken

Blessed Be

Re-Ground (if needed)

Take a deep breath, and release it. Take another breath, following your breath to the swirling energy in your center. Feel the energy in your center. Feel how it fits inside you. Decide if you’ve got too much energy or not enough. On your next breath, let the energy move down to your feet. Now let it flow down into the earth like roots. Past the concrete, past the top soil, past the stones and bones of our ancestors. if you had too much energy, let the extra flow down into the warm center of the earth. If you need a little boost — you’ve got a bit of a cold or just need a little extra, bring some of that warm earth energy back up with your breath. When you feel that your energy balance is just right, pull your roots back in. and when you are ready, return to the group
