A Thought for Today

Many of you know about the recent shut down of the USA Government, part of that shut down included the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Since only parts of the USA government have been recalled to work now it is about for 6 weeks we gain face the truth that more Americans can get very ill possibly fatally with the FDA only concentrating it’s few workers in what is considered by the agency as high risk. So while this cartoon may give you a chuckle it is also here to remind you our voices speaking as one to get the government that is supposed to be for the people back on the right track again. Remember to write to your districts congressperson and your state senators demanding the work for all the people in their district and state no matter whether the person voted for them or not is a babe in arms or a person nearing the end of this lifetime. It is time these officials start taking care of our citizens instead of those half-way across the world. Do not get me wrong I believe in helping those that need it in other parts of the world too but remember the old saying, “Charity begins at home.” In this case “home” is the United States of America,

Also, write to your state’s and county elected officials that have the ability to change and/or modify laws. No one in the United States should ever go to bed hungry or without a warm and at least semi-comfortable to lay their head at night, to be able to shelter from bad weather (snow storms, extremely cold or hot temperatures) thunderstorms, etc).

One person’s letter can make a teeny difference but thousands of letters can and should make a big difference in how our elected officials run our country and states. Let our voices be heard from, Alaska, Hawaii, and all 48 contiguous states, as one for the betterment of the country we live in and the people who need help to build or re-build a better life. Are we not the “land of opportunity?”

A Thought for Today

When I was in a speech class in college we had to choose any topic we wanted to give a 7-minute speech on. I chose to write and give a speech on how just 1 person can change the world. I used Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Hitler. Both men changed the world in different ways forever. PArt of my speech included how Dr. King’s followers mourned his death at the time and in some ways we still mourn him. While on the other side Hitler people even the ones he trusted most were glad he died.

America and other countries still have a ways to go until we come to a point of there being no discrimination towards anyone no matter what their sexual preference is, what religion they follow, what color their skin is, how fat or skinny a person is, whether they wear glasses or not. I could go on with this list but I want you to think and dig deep into your mind to find out who you think of as not being an equal to you because we all to some extent discriminate against a person or group of people whether we do consciously or unconsciously. I feel we are at a crossroads and have the chance to bury all our negative feeling of discrimination.

Every day for the next 7-days take a piece of paper no matter what size it is and write down everything you know you discriminate against. Take your time doing this as it will help to cleanse your spirit and some chakras as well. On the 8th day either tear your papers into tiny pieces or burn them in your cauldron or whatever you have that you can burn them but be able to collect the ashes. Now go to a crossroad if you can bury them if can’t bury them just pour them out of the container onto the middle of the crossroads. DO NOT LOOK BACK look to the now and the future to start helping to wipe discrimination off the face of Mother Earth.

One final thing to think about if everyone everywhere believes that everyone else is equal to them there would be less need for military personnel because there would be fewer wars and/or terrorist attacks. There would also be a world that could once again find how to live in harmony with Mother Earth and all living things.

I Have a Dream Speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. on August 28, 1963

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free; one hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination; one hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity; one hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself in exile in his own land.

So we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition. In a sense we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was the promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note in so far as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.” But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we have come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy; now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice; now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood; now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content, will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the worn threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protests to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy, which has engulfed the Negro community, must not lead us to a distrust of all white people. For many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.

There are those who are asking the devotees of Civil Rights, “When will you be satisfied?” We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality; we can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities; we cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro’s basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one; we can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating “For Whites Only”; we cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro in Mississippi cannot vote, and the Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No! no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until “justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations.  Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi. Go back to Alabama. Go back to South Carolina. Go back to Georgia. Go back to Louisiana. Go back to the slums and ghettos of our Northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.  Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Ok, it is time for Witches and Pagans to come together to speak as one voice no matter what traditions you follow. Write, email, and call your Senator and Congressperson as often as you can. Let them know that although we are a minority in this country when it comes to religions we will step up as one to help our sacred Mother Earth and all living things upon her including the waterways that flow through her and the oceans that surround her land as well as the air above us. As the USA spend billions helping other countries almost yearly we ask… How much is being spent yearly in the United States of America to help our homeless, children going to bed hungry every night, to help those that have willing serve in our military to get proper medical, dental, and vision care, the same goes for the millions of Americans that for whatever reason cannot afford to pay for medical, dental, and optical insurance and make just a little too much to qualify to get insurance from the state they live in.

Are you ready and willing to make your voice heard with ours? Then start today by finding who your congressperson and senators are. Then write, email, call and let your voice be heard every day you can please. 

We the ordinary people are the ones who are going to make America stand out as a leading country around the world again by forcing those in Washington D. The reason they are not getting paid is because of our messed up government starting from the top with POTUS trickling down through our US Congress and Senate and their sub committees that allocate funds. Oh yeah, that’s right there is no federal budget yet because the selfish egotistical man sitting in one of the most important position in the world, President of the United States of America won’t sign the budget because of wanting money to build a wall between the US and Mexico. I ask you Mr. President which is more important building a stupid wall or keeping the people who you are basically there over all boss paid so their children can go to bed in a home after they have eaten a decent meal? While we are on the subject of hungry, homeless families why is the US sending millions of dollars overseas to countries that aren’t even connected in anyway to the US. Don’t get me wrong I am all for helping people especially children who someday will be in Chafee of our great planet Gaia but we need to help those in our own country just as much as in the foreign ones. I ask you how is not paying US employees “Making America Grate Again’

Good morning to all our little snow bunnies. How y’all doing today? I hope you aren’t snowed in some place. Our weather forecasters amaze the crap out of me. I have found out with all the metal in my body, I can tell weather better than they can. Our “supposedly” snow storm pooped out! When we went to bed last night, I turned the porch light on. It was snowing like the devil, great big fluffy flakes. I figured this morning we would get up and we would have snow up to our rumps. WRONG! The only sign we have that it actually snowed and that we weren’t crazy last night is a shed in the back with snow on its roof. This is the second time this season, our weather forecasters have called for a “severe” snow storm to come through. Both times they have missed the mark. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining at all. I figure before the season is over, we will get hit with a 6 foot snow and won’t see daylight for a week. We are way overdue for a good snow storm. It seems around here, our weather runs in cycles. About every seven years, the seasons change. When the seasons change that is when you can expect bad weather. This is suppose to be the year our seasons change for us. This being the first of January, we are not out of the woods yet. So I guess I better keep my big mouth shut or else I will end up with a snowball in it, lol!

I have two things on my mind this morning, both of them have to do with the government. I know and you know, I don’t like to mix politics and witchcraft anymore than the next witch but….the government shut down has been weighing heavy on my mind. I am not going to play the blame game, whether it is the Republicans’ fault or the Democrats’ faults, I really don’t care. What I do care about is all the government workers that are not getting paid right now. I know as many followers and members as The WOTC has, there has got to be several of you who are currently being effected by this shut-down. I won’t play the blame game but I do think it is horrible to put the citizens of this country in the middle of this mess. I wonder how all the politicians in our country would like it, if all of a sudden their paychecks stopped rolling in. I don’t think they would. In fact, I don’t believe any of them could live the way most of us “average joes” do. I know what is like to live from paycheck to paycheck. In today’s economic, that is about all you can do anymore. You can’t save a dollar for a rainy day because something always comes up to take that dollar.

When I was watching the News (got to stop watching the News, it always gets me in trouble), I saw numerous people talking about how they were going to feed their children, how they were going to keep a roof over their heads and many more stories just like these. You know to live in the greatest country on the planet, this is pitiful and that is an understatement. It troubles my soul when I see these people because if the government don’t get its head out of its ass and do something, things are going to get much worse. People aren’t going to stand by and watch their children go hungry or lose everything they worked for all their life. I don’t believe the elected officials of our country would want a person like me for president. The first thing I would do is to stop their paychecks. If the American people aren’t getting paid, then they wouldn’t either. Hell, they would lose their minds if they had to live like we do. Plain and simple, they have lost touch with reality. They are playing politics with our lives.

There is going to be a poll at the end of this to see how many of you are directly effected by this shut-down. I want to know. I have a plan cooking in the back of my little brain and I decided it was time to act on it. I can’t stand by and watch potentials members of our family go hunger, lose their houses, can’t pay their bills or whatever else they need. I just can’t do it. My plan, and you can tell me what you think, is to create a fund for all those out of work right now due to the shut down and facing hardship. The funds will be donated from our members and others who are working and can afford to give a little to help others out during this crisis. And yes, it is a crisis. I know we have children going to bed every night hungry in this country and that is a shame. Now to add more children and families to that growing list, it is unthinkable. The money or donations wouldn’t even go into our PayPal account. I know Lady Beltane has opened a PayPal account for the magazine that is suppose to be coming out in a few months. I was going to see if we could use her account for this fund. Next thing after we get some donations collected would be for those workers in need to verify that they are government employees. How to do this, simple. Just email us a pay stub with everything blocked out, except the name of the government agency and the $0.00 balance you received on your last pay check. It probably won’t be much that we collect but perhaps it will help someone keep their lights on or buy a few groceries for their families. Everyone here has helped us when we have been in a tight spot, now it is our turn to return the favor. What I would like to know, would you be willing to help out our brothers & sisters currently trapped in the middle of political politics? Like I stated the money or donations will not go into our PayPal account, it will go into another one. We will gladly release every detail about where your donations have went and how and what they were spent for. Now will you help if we can get this up and running.

We have a very large family across the net, I know in this time of crisis we can pull together and help those who need it most. Just put yourself in their shoes, no money coming in, kids to feed, chance of losing your home, and there seems no hope in sight. How would you feel? I know how it feels and it is scary as hell. I want to know if this is something you would be willing to help out with? These are our brothers and sisters, proud Americans who are now political pons. They need our help and I am asking you, would you be willing to help if we can get this up and running?

This is just one of the things I wanted to talk to you about. The other I will wait a day or two on, it involves starting our own political movement.  Yes, you heard right, a political movement of our own. I am sick of the way things are going in this country. I am sure most of you are also. It seems no one, Democrat or Republican, can get their act together to change things, so it is time for a new voice to be heard. That voice is ours. I will give you more details on it later.

*After Thought* I forgot what really, really rubbed me the wrong way till I went back and read what I wrote. The other day I read that the government was giving their employees ideas on how to survive without paychecks. REALLY! I am going to call it what it is, “a crock of shit!” To tell people to have yard sales or garage sales, babysit, walk the neighbor’s dog or do handyman work, really! Are these idiots in Washington that far out of touch with reality? And how dare they tell these people that want to work and have worked for good money to go out and “walk a dog.” Who the hell do they think they are? I wonder how dear Chuck or Nancy would like to be told to “go walk a dog?” Nancy is not one of my favorite people. I would love to see that woman walking a dog, in fact, I would pay to see her walk a dog. She needs to walk her butt out the door with several others of those up there in Washington right now.

Thousands of Little-Known Plant Species Are at Risk of Extinction

When I copy and paste from this source it always looks messy for that I apologize but there is nothing I can do to change it. The reason I am posting this is it will have an impact not only on Mother Earth’s over all ecosystem but it will affect the types of esstenial oils, herbs, plants, and flowers we have available to use fo spells, rituals, homemade remedies, etc. Always keep in mind with anything that is affecting our pericous Mother Earth – one person CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE either in a positive or negative way. When it comes to endangered species, animals like the Asian elephantblack rhinoceros and Bornean orangutan tend to draw the most attention. But a new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences places the spotlight on an entirely different—but equally at-risk—kingdom of life: plants.

There are nearly 400,000 known plant species spread out across the globe, but as Gregory Barber reports for Wired, less than 10 percent have been assessed by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. In total, the plants actually included on the list constitute just five percent of all known species.
