24 Hours in a Day Can be More Then Enough to Find ME TIME Daily

Most of us live busy lives work, household chores, laundry, maybe a significant other and/or children. Along with maybe book clubs, arts and crafts alone or with others and handworks like sewing, crocheting, or knitting, building things etc. Besides some of us be adults students with homework to fit in. Anyway I could go on and on with this list but I am sure you all get what I am saying, “There’s often there is not enough time in 24 hours” to accomplish everything and still have time to relax, meditate, sleep, etc and don’t forget unexpected things like traffic problems, or an emergency can pop up out of nowhere to throw your daily schedule completely off. While we cannot plan every day down to the last minute most days are basically the same in most of our lives. Below are a couple ideas I have started using that you may find helpful too. Finding ways to prioritize helps you to keep a balance in your life thus making it less stressful and this, in turn, brings more positive energy to you in many different ways. Whereas when you are stressed you bring more negative energy and other nasty things towards you.

For spells and rituals, I have a section in my BOS where they stay until I have the entire thing finished. This includes the day and Moon phase that is best to do the spell and/or ritual on for what I’m doing, items needed for the spell and/or ritual, the entire spell and/or ritual and most importantly how I want it to manifest in my life or whoever I am doing it for. A small reminder here when writing a spell and/or ritual keep the outcome you want from it in your mind while you are writing it.

I have 2 special notebooks I use. One is a 3-ring binder, so I can add pages as needed and wrote “PROJECTS” on the front. With a project, I write what I need to do for the project by writing down each different step 1st, 2nd, etc how long I want to spend on each step with the last step being finished. I put a line through the step and then rip out the page when the project is completed.

For my 2nd notebook for my day to day responsibilities, such as making sure there is something new on CL and student or other people emails are check and responded to, most days I have what’s for dinner on it, I use calendar page made using a spreadsheet that I print off from my computer leaving a space at the very bottom where I can write in by hand last minute things that I may pop up that I need to do that month. (See example at the bottom) I have these sheets in a pocket folder all start the pages start on the right side and get moved to the left on the last day of the month. I take each month and put it on the wall next to my spot where I use my laptop the most, so I can easily check it out either before bed or in the morning with while having my first cup of coffee. I have typed in all the regular things I do day to day and month to month I have to do down along the first column that I make wider than the rest of them and write the month and dates for that month along the top.  Here again, I write down a certain amount of time I want to spend on each responsibly next to that responsibility in the second column. When I finish something I make a check mark in its column under the corresponding date. Even if it a one-time thing for that month, like a doctor appointment or a class I am attending that month I write them in at the bottom of the everyday list. My doctor and other appointment type things I also put into the calendar on my cell phone with reminders set to go off the day before and then a second reminder with extra time for getting to where I have to be.

Another thing I have started doing to save time when grocery shopping is looking at my calendar to see what’s on the menu for that week, then check my pantry and freezer to make sure I have everything in the house to make it. I then use a tip my younger daughter gave me, I make a shopping list on my cell phone so as I think of things we are running low on or something special I want like ice cream I can just add it right away and not forget about it.

It may seem silly to some people that I use different notebooks beside my BOS but this is what works for me. The day to day one is really important for me because I have Fibromyalgia and with it come memory problems. I have found all of this helps me to prioritize what I have to do so I can have some me time every day for meditation or reading or nice hot bubble bath or whatever I want to do for me time.

As the Northern Hemisphere Begins to Settle in For The Cold Tempatures and Shorter Days

Now is the time to finish your final harvest as anything left on plants, trees, and vines on Samhain, October 31st is for the wildlife, gods, and goddesses to enjoy.

It is time, if you can, to can fruits and vegetables. To pick, during the right Moon phase for optimal power, and dry your herbs. To stick up on other non-perishables you have to buy, put extra meat and homemade or store bread in your freezer. I even buy a small thing of powdered milk in case we get snowed in.

I also check to make sure I have all my magickal supplies, candles, herbs, oils, etc, stocked and ready for use. I also make sure I have my Yule log under a trap so I don’t have a problem lighting on the Winter Solstice. Whenever possible I do a ritual outdoors for Samhain and the Winter Solstice because I do not have any type of fireplace indoors.

As for my home now is when I do a fall cleaning and through smudging in every room and my basement. I want to make sure I do not have any negativity in my home before the windows are closed and the furnace turned on giving it and/or nasty beings a place to hide in.

Smokeless Way to Smudging with White Sage and Sweet Grass

I know there are people for one reason or another that can not burn the White Sage and Sweetgrass to cleanse their self or home because of the smoke. So I tried this alternate way yesterday and got the same results as burning them. White Sage takes away the negative energy in your home and Sweet Grass brings in the positive energy.

Crush the White Sage into a powder and tear the Sweetgrass into very tiny pieces and combine them in a bowl or on a plate used only for this purpose. Than walk each room in your home counter-clockwise starting at the door people use the most to enter and exit your home. As you are walking ask the Mother Goddess and the Father God or whatever deity you have as your patrons to take away all negativity, anger, resentment, etc from your home and replace it with love, positive energy, and harmony while you asking for this energy exchange sprinkle the White Sage and Sweet Grass mixture on the floor in the center of the room in the shape of a pentagram and put some in each corner of the room. The pentagram does not have to be perfect or even completely solid. Leave the pentagram in place until you feel it is time to sweep it up, do not vacuum it up.  Leave the mixture you put in the corner of each room there this helps to keep your home environment a more positive space. Take the mixture you have swept up and dump it in your yard to be reclaimed by Mother Earth.

Everyone Needs Some Me Time to Relax and Center

We all have days we wish we could just hibernate and hide from everyone. This is when you need to have a special care package ready to go to relax you physically and mentally and recenter yourself spiritually.

I have a small kit made up in advance for when I take this me time. Mine includes a long incense sticks or cones of either sandalwood or jasmine (lavender is also very good for relaxing with), my favorite Celtic music bookmarked on my computer to find it easier, a big handful of my favorite Epsom salts in a Ziploc type bag or other holder, a smudge stick, a bar of scents soap, a black taper and a white taper candle, my favorite lotion, and a robe (type depends on the temperature in my home). I also shut off my cell/mobile phone and anything else that someone could call me on like Skype.

Allow a minimum of 2 hours for yourself to get the benefits you deserve.

I do a smudging in my den and bathroom and also myself. Then get into my usually hot bath with the salts. I soak for a while until I feel my muscles completely relax m(draining cooled water and adding more hot if I feel the need to) than I use one of my scented soaps to wash with (my hair is tied up because I wash it in the sink before getting into my bath or just leave dry, no one says you have to wash your hair just because you take a bath). After getting out of the bath and drying off I rub lotion on every part of my body I can comfortably reach just to feel the wonder of what the deities choose to make us into thousands of years ago.

Then if I feel like it put on my robe and go into my den or bedroom. Depending on my mood whether I stay in the robe or lay down skyclad.

Once in my den or bedroom,  I have a small table next to the daybed in my den so the black candle is set on the southwest corner and the white in the northeast. I light the black candle first asking Hades and Persephone to take away all the negative energy, anger, resentment, envy, etc I may still be harboring inside myself.  Next, I  light the white candle asking Ra and Mother Earth to fill me with love, positive energy and to be grounded. I then light the incense I choose while enjoying the scent of the incense and listening to the music  I do a relaxation technique (which I will describe below) and then I let my mind to float free not focusing on any one thought especially if it is a negative one. I usually wind up falling asleep and many times have had messages and/or vision brought to me by my ancestors, guides, some deities. These dreams I write down what I can remember of them when I awaken. The dreaming does not happen every time.

The two most important things to take away from this experience is one does not feel guilty for taking the time to pamper and nurture yourself because we all need to. The other thing is to take a is relaxed, centered mind, body, and spirit from reconnecting them all.

RELATION TECHNIQUE: Starting with your toes and working up the body tighten each muscle as you take as deep a breath as you can then allow the muscle to completely relax as you slowly exhale all the air you took in. This should take you at least 15 to 20 minutes to get all your muscles relaxed and your mind to slow down.

Simple way to Completely Smudge Your Home and Yourself

Smudging is usually done with White Sage and Sweetgrass combination this way is more of a NAtive American tradition. You can use White Sage by itself which is more of a witch’s way of doing it The White Sage takes all the negative energy out of your home and yourself and the Sweet Grass bring positive energy back into your home. If you do not use the Sweetgrass that is fine but be sure to ask for love, harmony, and positive energy to fill each room after you have cleared the negative energy from it.

To smudge yourself either start at your feet or head, depending on what feels right to you, WHile bring the smudge stick up or down your body ask Hekate to cleanse you of all negative energy, anger, resentment, and whatever else negative you feel you may be holding on to. Then ask her to fill you with positive energy, love, harmony, happiness, and whatever other good things you want to bring into yourself. When you clear negative energy out of you, you leave an empty space that needs to be filled so that is why you ask for positive things to fill you up.

To smudge your home starting in the room that has the door people go in and out of the most you walk counterclockwise making sure you get some of the smoke from the smudge stick into every corner of the room saying “Hekate (you can also call upon your patron god and matron goddess to help you)  “Cleanse this room of all negativity, anger, and whatever other kinds of bad energy you may feel is in the room.”  To continue cleansing room home go through it room by room counterclockwise stating the same thing you did in the first room. You also cleanse around every window, the in between where you walk through to another room or if the is a doorway, cleanse any mirrors, electronic devices that are in your home, your phone landlines and cell/mobile phones, computers, tablets, etc., inside closets and cabinets, if you have a basement and/or attic cleanse those also and last but not least any photographs you have on display anywhere in your home especially those of family and friends.
