I suggest if using this video for meditation you either sit or lay down so you cannot see your computer screen, light a couple of candles that have been placed on spots that are safety (you can use battery operated candles also), have the incense burning that helps you to relax. Make sure to have a glass of water within hand’s reach to drink when you are done with your meditation. Thank you White Wolf for sharing this with us!

Kitchen Lore – How Chinese Clear the Qi (chee)

Follow this ritual and make your kitchen a place of joy and harmony. The Kitchen has always been a traditional source of magic in many countries, and remains the focal room in many homes. Creating a balanced atmosphere in your kitchen will not provide a welcoming and relaxing place, it will also make an ideal location for preparation of magic. Qi (pronounced “chee”) is a positive energy force that sustains all living things; it sometimes becomes blocked and creates the wrong atmosphere. This ritual will help restore the positive flow of Qi in your kitchen.

INGREDIENTS (List of what you need)

Pendulum or Key

Length of Cord

election of Chinese Spies – Here is a link  for different types of “Chinese” spices Chinese Spices and Herbs

Shiny Metal Bowl

Boiling Water (I suggest doing this spell if you have children when they are a school or taking a nap, also no pets in the kitchen at the time of doing this ritual because of safety with the boiling water)

(RITUAL)

To check if your kitchen has a negative flow of Qi, thread the Pendulum or Key on to your Cord and hold it in front of you; it will swing regularly as you walk. Starting from the center of the room, walk outward in a clockwise direction (in a spiral), covering the whole area. If the pendulum stops swing or pulls in an erratic manner, there is an energy blockage. Note where this happens (I suggest taping a small piece of paper to the floor at this point). To restore harmony start by placing spices (number of Chinese spices to use is not mentioned. I suggest using 3 or 6 or 9 different ones to keep the number of times to repeat a spell in The Craft for it to work as you envisioned it) in the metal bowl in the center of the space (You might want to put a trivet, potholder, towel, basically anything to keep the heat of the boiling water from leaving a ring on your wooden floor) Then pour boiling water over them so the aromatic steam rises up out of the bowl. Place a mirror on the wall that is opposite the problem area to reverse the flow of negative energy. Arrange as many plants as you can in the space. You will notice the difference as negative energy is transformed to positive, and blocked energy is released.

CAPTIONS UNDER PICTURES – 1. Make sure that the key hangs vertically on the cord, with about 40cc drop beneath it. 2. At first the aroma will be quite pungent as you pour boiling water over the spices, but the odor will soon fade to a pleasing scent.

(All things in slanting font are suggestions or links added by Lady Beltane to help clarify the ritual a little bit more)

The Moon in the Signs – Part 3 of 3

The Moon moves through the twelve signs of the zodiac each month, spending about two and a half days in each sign and taking on the sign’s characteristics while there. Moon sign astrology is an ancient tradition and holds a significant place in folklore and magic. In addition to using the waxing and waning phases of the Moon in daily life, it is important to know which Moon signs can be helpful to the job at hand and which will work against you. Here is a description of how the Moon behaves in each of the twelve signs.

CAPRICORN

Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign dominated by the lesser master, Saturn. This is good planting and graphing time, but when the Moon is here everybody wants to be the boss, so hold back on the autocratic orders. This sign is a gateway to the land of magic and very powerful in obtaining what you need. In this Moon, you will find the crone and profound wisdom, so don’t let negativity and depression get you down, However, the Moon is not happy here and tends to be ruthless with other’s feelings. Try bending at the knee for a little humility.

AQUARIUS

Aquarius is a fixed air sign ruled by traditional Saturn and transpersonal Uranus. This Moon is happy working for the common good of all, so use this time for coven matters or working magic for others. Selfish independence is a problem with this imperial Moon, as personal magic can boomerang with scattered thinking. Garden chores should be limited to weeding and clean up. It’s ok now to dress a little weirdly and express your off-the-wall thoughts. Stay out of your in-line skates if you have weak ankles.

PISCES

Pisces is a feminine mutable water sign traditionally ruled by Jupiter and by the modern Neptune. Another very fertile sign, it is good planting all seeds. This is the Moon that rules magic itself, so it is very powerful for prophecy, dreams, and deep psychic work. Use it to explore past lives and all secrets; you can find things you’ve lost or mix potent ritual elixirs and perfumes. You don’t need to polish off the cooking sherry to make music and dance or find your spiritual roots. Avoid getting lost in the fantasy; keep your feet on the ground.

The Moon in the Signs – Part 2 of 3

The Moon moves through the twelve signs of the zodiac each month, spending about two and a half days in each sign and taking on the sign’s characteristics while there. Moon sign astrology is an ancient tradition and holds a significant place in folklore and magic. In addition to using the waxing and waning phases of the Moon in daily life, it is important to know which Moon signs can be helpful to the job at hand and which will work against you. Here is a description of how the Moon behaves in each of the twelve signs.

LEO

Leo is a fixed fire sign, and King Lion is ruled by the SUn. It is the most barren sign and the only garden job it is good for is weeding. Leo loves to be appreciated and looked up to. Use this Moon to work with your stocks and bonds, creative arts, pets, hobbies, and romance, Throw a dinner party with a drama flair – make barbecue or serve flaming brochettes, in honor of the Sun. Be generous and kind; don’t behave like a sulky child.

VIRGO

Virgo is a mutable earth sign, and it too is ruled by Mercury, which lends abstract thought and a keen critical intellect to the Virgin. Pay attention to details and all matters concerning health and healing, nutrition, herbs, crafts, ethics, service to others, volunteering, and communication needs. Use this Moon’s energy to thoroughly clean house.

LIBRA

Libra is a cardinal air sign and also ruled by Venus. When the Moon is here it is time for partnership matters, legal affairs, socializing, and planting flowers. Balance and harmony are the Venusian theme to this Moon time, so use it to accomplish things with another person. MAgic can be done with a partner, and it’s definitely time for romance, sprinkle rose petals in the incense burner, but don’t overimbibe; your kidneys will give you a headache.

SAGITTARIUS

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, under the domain of Jupiter. Go with your current mood of warmhearted friendliness and take your mother-in-law to lunch and a lecture at the museum. Schedule a trip to Malta or Avebury Plain for an independent journey. Be Philosophical about your restlessness and mail your manuscript to the publishers. Use intuitive gifts to work some divination magic. Harvest fruits and vegetables. Be careful not to injure your hip when you fall over the pattern in the linoleum. (I think the last line was put here just for me since I can trip over my own feet…lol)

Week 5 – Goddess Knowledge – Flora

Flora, “Flourishing one,” was the Roman goddess of flowers, gardens, and spring. She is the embodiment of all nature; her name has come to represent all plant life. She is especially a goddess of flowers, including the flower of youth. Her festival of unrestrained pleasure, the Floralia, was celebrated at the end of April and beginning of May; this festival was probably the orgin of the maypole dance and the gathering of bouquets of flowers, symbolizing the bring of spring and new life into the world. She gives charm to youth, aroma to wine, sweetness to honey, and fragrance to blossoms.

Flora teaches us to honor growing things, both inside and outside us, She is a reminder to pay attention to pleasure, to the beauty of spring, and to new life, where it is found.

A Candle and Suggestions to Help a Person Not Feel so Alone

Wanting to Connect with Others a Big Part of What Makes Us Humans

I was watching this video by The Bronze Witch and felt it was a good idea to share it with all of you. There are many illnesses, conditions, and disease that cannot be seen by others on the outside but that does not mean the person suffering through them does not have whatever it might be. As mentioned in the video the cold weather when we tend to stay home more can bring on a depression so it is important to reach out to your brothers and sisters in The Craft as well as other friends and family especially if they live alone just to chat for a few minutes.  This is not something you need to find time in your busy schedule daily but make an effort to communicate with an email, phone call, an online or paper card, short text or any way you want just to let someone know they are cared about and not forgotten at least once a week. Also in the United States from just before Thanksgiving until about the middle of January the suicide rate increased to It’s highest point throughout the entire year. If you can take a goodie or two to someone in a nursing home or rehab center once a month or every other. Many of our elderly have no family left to bring them joy. Check with your local senior center or town council on aging to ask if there is any type of an adopted a grandparent near you.

As a witch you have the capability to help people you know to feel better at least a little bit. How? Charm a candle in a bright color, like yellow, red, orange, to bring a person some joy and happiness.

How to Charm/Empower the Candle

Start with a large candle like the big jar ones with a kind in  one of the colors mentioned above or the person you are giving it to favorite color and/or scent IMPORTANT if the person cannot or should not be left alone with a burning candle for safety reasons you can substitute a battery power candle.

Engrave their name into the top of the Candle while saying this spell 3 times and after the 3rd time seal the spell by saying “So more it be” or however you seal your spells If using a battery type candle use a permanent market to write the person’s first name on the candle.Love

SPELL

Artemis and Apollo infuse this candle with healing, love from my heart, happiness the Sun brings and the joy friends and family can bring.

I give this candle to (insert persons name) to help them remember there is light and joy in this the dark, cold time of year.

This is my wish for them. So mote is be.

If the person is in a nursing home, assisted living place, or rehabilitation center of some kind check the rules they may have about what a person can be gifted.

Wrap the Candle or place it in a gift bag. Maybe add a handwritten note and a word puzzle book or a light, happier style book they would enjoy it a gift card if they own an d-reader or a coupon or a few coupons (the coupons can be for anything like spending an hour or two with them, a household chores or two that might not be able to do themselves, hugs, an putting of some kind the only thing holding you back from making some coupons is your own imagination) tailored for the person you are giving them to, a few candies -sugar free of the person is diabetic, some home made goodies or even a couple of prepared meals that could frozen and the heated up or whatever else you want to add that would put a giant smile and warm the heart of the person you are giving the “Cold Weather Smile or Hoodie Bag” or whatever you want to call it Side note this was always my mom’s favorite gift from me and she looked forward to seeing the design I picked out for that years slippers I crocheted. Do not wait for a specific holiday to give it to the person do it as soon as you have it ready, I use to give my mom hers right after Samhain with Do Not Open Until and then picked the first date before Thanksgiving that popped into my head. Every year for the last 8 I had with her she’d call me on Samhain just to ask if she was getting her cold weather surprise goodie bag. Another side note of you know someone who is housebound for whatever reason you could make a candle and goodie bag for each season and give it to them. In my family we at times give small gifts for no reason what do ever and call them “I love you gift.”

A huge thank you to my dearest sister The Bronze Witch for making the video that reminded me of this made from the heart with love gift I use to give my mom. I can think of a couple people I can do it for this year.

P. U. T. for A. H.

As a continuation to my post yesterday I felt the need to share a mantra and prayer I have been using for years after reading the book The Four Agreements. The author Don Miguel Ruiz is a descendant of a long line of Toltec shamans, reading this book did change my whole outlook on my interactions with myself as well as other people. So when I apologized to the person in yesterday’s post I was apologizing to myself so I could put the whole negative situation behind me. Which I have mostly because of what the title of this article stand for. Here is my daily prayer that has help me bring my anger, resentment, negativity in thoughts about others almost to nothingingness. Yes I still get those feelings but first it takes me longer to all myself to feel that way and second I am quicker to recognize when I am feeling like that. I am responsible for what feeling I decide to react with to what someone else has said and/or done to me. No on has the power to make me feel any specific way. Everyone of us has the power over which feeling we use to react to the way we are being treated, spoken about or to. No one can make any of us feel anyway but the way we ourself choose to. Remember we all see the world and the people in our lives through our own heart, mind, spirit and eyes that are unique to us just as every other person living anywhere on Mother Earth sees things in their own unique way.

So here is the prayer I say almost daily to remind myself how I want to choose to react or interact with others. You are welcome to use it as is or tweak it so it fits your own unique self.

May I have

Patience

Understanding and

Tolerance for better

Acceptance of people, places, things, situations, they way people treat me or might talk to or about me so I can live in better

Harmony in my home, family, work, and world.

House Cleansings Gone Wrong and How to Avoid Them

I’ve done it. You’ve probably done it, or asked someone to do it for you.

You moved into a new house, apartment, dorm room, or office. Or you were getting ready to move in. Or something was bothering you in your current space. So you broke out the sage1 and salt water, the bell and chime, the incense, and your favorite prayers.

House cleansing and blessing is Wicca 101 stuff. It comes very early in the OBOD lessons. It’s not even restricted to Pagans – Christians and Buddhists do it too. It’s a good and effective way to make your living space clean and safe. It’s a way to make it yours.

8 Tips to Build Tolerance in Your Life By Leo Carver

I had some words with someone yesterday and it got me to thinking I was not being tolerant of how the other person thought of me. I came to realize that the way others thought of me is not as important as how I think of myself. While we all come into contact with people we just for whatever reason do not get along with in any way no matter what the circumstances might be that brought us together in the first place. Even if our relationship with the person starts off in a congenial way and you might not have a clue as to why the other person suddenly attacks you verbally and/or in writing in any way they can and every chance they see. So I decided it was a good time for me to remember tolerance and maybe by sharing it with others their view may change a little about someone they have a problem with. I found the following article well written and it does have good ideas for how you not the other person treat people you come into contact with. Now I know I will not get along with everyone I meet but at least I can come away feeling better about the encounter if I practice tolerance of others.  I will take this chance to apologize to the person I had words with yesterday for being intolerant of them as a person.

Most people have trouble being tolerant with others. As a living, breathing society, everyone is constantly learning and adapting to each other—it comes with the territory. But cultivating a spirit of tolerance can bring healing and meaning to your life in unimaginable ways.

Tolerance is your ability to deal with the disagreeable. It’s your capacity to withstand the “yuck” in your life and other people. Sometimes, someone’s disagreeable nature can simply be an annoyance, while other times, it may be much more intrusive.

The practice of tolerance, however, is more about your relationship with yourself instead of with other people. Tolerance can be thought of as emotional or mental perseverance:

Sing Bowls Meditation

As I have only recently got my first sign bowl and really I had no idea of the proper way to use it, I signed up for a Sing Bowl Meditation in a new small store that opened in the spring only a few blocks from my home. The woman leading the session was kind enough to show me the correct way to use my small Tibetian sing bowl.

The session was amazing and if you ever have the chance to attend one I strongly suggest you do so. As many of you know I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, and degenerative disc disease that has so far left me with vertabrate on vertabrate in my neck and is eating away at almost every disc in the rest of my back so needless to say I live daily with back pain. Now usually lying on a things blanket with a pillow propping up my knees for an hour straight I would have to have someone almost pick me up off the floor. After this meditation not only was I able to roll over on my own, I also needed no help getting up. Best part my back hasn’t felt this good in months!!!

One of the coolest things to happen during the meditation is for about half of it I was either hovering in the room watching how the facilitator was performing the ritual with the singing bowls to help each of the five different people attending and also astral traveling, part of which was with my traveling partner Starbabie who is one of my familiars joined me.

The only drawback I had with the experience last evening was when one of the bowls was placed over my heart chakra it immediately recombined my astral and physical bodies. I was not able to concentrate as well during the rest of the meditation. As we sat and talked about of experiences during the meditation I brought up my interrupted travels and never really got an answer as to why this was done to me. I am however going to ask when I attend the November session.

Again if you get the chance to attend one of these group meditation sessions go for it!!
