I woke to see Ra shinning down on us after being buried behind nasty storm clouds for the past week. The temperature is a balmy 70F with Air providing g a gentle breeze. The only drawback is for those of us allergic to mold spores which are out in full force. I’ll still take this gift of this beautiful day and I just take some allergy medicine. I’m writing this while sitting outside watching my almost 4-year-old grandson play. Plus because of the Maple tree in their yard, I was able to explain where big trees come from. The seed from any Maple tree has about a 1/2 inch seed encased in a thing that looks like a wing sort of. As kids, we called them “whirlybirds.” There was also a couple of small new birth twigs with 3 different size leaves on them, so we talked about how trees and the leaves on them start out small like any baby and geta bigger as they get older.

Then we watched, played, and talked about where ants live and what they might eat. I had yo hold in my laughter when he asked me if I would make lunch for the ant so the 2 of them could have a picnic. LOL
Next came the different birds he pointed out. Some of them I could tell him the name of others not. Time for grandma to learn the names of the birds that are in this area.
The most important part of these in prompt to lessons was how important it is to respect everything that is gifted to us by Mother Earth/Gaia and that we should live in harmony with the plants, animals, birds, insects, etc that are around us instead of helping to destroy our Blessed Mother. When school is out for summer and break it is time for me to take these 2 grandsons, the one I’m with has a 6-year-old brother, on walks with trash bags in hand to pick up whatever garbage other people leave out of laziness, apathy, and zero respect for the living breathing entity shaped like a huge ball floating in space as a solitary planet called me earth by those who don’t realize she is the Mother that nurtures us.
I ask that where ever you may go by foot or bicycle to please take some type of disposable bag with you, you know the ones you have to bring groceries and other things home in, and either gloves and/or hand sanitizer than pick up behind those that are less caring about our Mother than I know you are. I use desirable bags for shopping now I like many are on a tight budget, even tighter now with buying WOTC, so each month I saved my change in a container and than counted before leaving to go shopping the next month. Whatever it added up to I would use it to buy as many reusable shopping bags as I could. I even saved enough over 2 months to be able to have an insulated bag for my freezer stuff. Now I’m saving to get another insulated bag for refrigerator stuff. That way if my hubby and I have other errands to run I do not have the to be concerned about as much with possible spoilage or melting.
The name Pink Moon comes from the pink flowers – phlox – that bloom in spring. Other names for this Full Moon are Sprouting Grass Moon, Fish Moon, Hare Moon, Egg Moon, and Paschal Moon.
This information is from timeanddate.com. The website has a lot of informationon about the Sun and Moon phases and the when the seasonal changes will happen. While your city might not be in their data base another town close to should be. If you live in a very rural area or outback or the Bush or whatever more isolated towns are called where you live lol up the closest major city to you. Then with knowing that time you can watch for the rising or getting Sun and know how many minutes to add or subtract to get the exact time for where you live. It might take up 2 or 3 complete Mon cycles before you get the slight time difference figured out.
When I was looking for the tie closest to me I notice something I found interesting April’s Full Moon this year is on the 19th at 6:12 AM Central Time zone and next year it is on the 7th at 9:35 PM Centrala Time zone.
I find it planetary movement helps me not only with spells and/or rituals it also helps me connect to different Goddesses and Gods that I want. To know better. Especially the Dark Moon phase which comes 3 days before the New Moon through meditation I have found I can talk to my Spirit Guide, Goddesses, and God’s easier and better then during any other of its phases.
Remember spellcasting should not be done by anyone who has not been taught to do it safely and also doesn’t know that a spell was done on themselves or someone else will always have some type of consequences be they good or bad. So these timing tips are not to be used by people who no nothing or the proper way to cast a spell for your own protection and the protection of others.
To give a spell the most power you can you need to do some research on when that would be. When you can plan exactly the best Moon phase, the best day of the week, and the best hour of the day or night to do you spell casting to give it the most power it can have. Some witches also look to how all the planets are aligned especially if it is a life-changing spell that is being cast. For example, helping a woman and/or a man with fertility problems, buying a new house or car or other large expense items, or starting your own business, etc
But there are times when a spell for example healing needs to be done right now to help someone or a person needs help financially or they may lose their home or their only transportation to go to work; these plus other things that come up in our lives may require an emergency spell to be done as soon as possible. This is the time when you pull in Universal Energy to give extra strength to your spellwork.
For the next few days, there will be posts going up that you may want to print out or copy and save to a word document on your computer or at least bookmark the page, all the topics have to do with how to find out the best time to cast a specific spell. Add the time to your strong intention of how the spell is supposed to work and it, if the spell you are doing is right for you or whoever you may be doing it for you, may find it comes to fruition sooner and better then you expected it to.
If you have any questions about this post or any of the ones to follow about spell cast timing please ask in the comment section below before you do you cast a spell. A spell not done correctly can backfire very badly on the person who cast it. I will put a disclaimer up that neither I or Coven Life are responsible if a spell goes wrong if you use the information I am making available on the worldwide net.
It is that time of the year…when the mornings and evenings are crisp and fresh. When the leaves on the trees start their fantastically colourful journey from green through all the glorious oranges and reds. Ultimately, they drop to the ground obviously, but it is all part of the cycle of life. Allowing the tree to rest throughout the cold months ready to renew afresh in the spring.
I love the autumn, it is my favourite season. There is something very magical about the whole atmosphere and energy of it. Not just because Samhain is on the way, being my birthday has nothing to do with the excitement at all…honest… This time of the year just feels full of energy and magical possibilities.
Although I spent a lot of the summer working with sun magic, let’s face it, in the UK we have had one of the hottest summers ever so there was plenty of sun to work with. I am not really a sun worshipper. For me the magic happens once the energy changes. That point when the equinox hits and things start to turn.
Late September and October are when I have a clear out. I look back at the year so far, see what has worked and what hasn’t. I sort out my wardrobe, putting away all the floaty summer frocks and sandals and embrace my velvet wear and my boots. Autumn is also when I have a good magical declutter; the herb cupboard, the candles, the altar bits and bobs that have all be shoved in the cupboard over the past few months when I haven’t needed them.
Now is the time to finish your final harvest as anything left on plants, trees, and vines on Samhain, October 31st is for the wildlife, gods, and goddesses to enjoy.
It is time, if you can, to can fruits and vegetables. To pick, during the right Moon phase for optimal power, and dry your herbs. To stick up on other non-perishables you have to buy, put extra meat and homemade or store bread in your freezer. I even buy a small thing of powdered milk in case we get snowed in.
I also check to make sure I have all my magickal supplies, candles, herbs, oils, etc, stocked and ready for use. I also make sure I have my Yule log under a trap so I don’t have a problem lighting on the Winter Solstice. Whenever possible I do a ritual outdoors for Samhain and the Winter Solstice because I do not have any type of fireplace indoors.
As for my home now is when I do a fall cleaning and through smudging in every room and my basement. I want to make sure I do not have any negativity in my home before the windows are closed and the furnace turned on giving it and/or nasty beings a place to hide in.
Please tell us what you do to get ready for you he darker and colder time of the year. Leave as long a comment as you want to. I hope I can get some new ideas from others on preparing for this time of year.
Because of the 17 hours difference between Chicago, Illinois, USA and Sydney, Australia the peak of the solstices are happening at the exact same time. When I first started this web site my vision was to bring information out about the Wheel of the Year for anyone living anywhere on Mother Earth. Although I have missed some of the dates and information for the Southern Hemisphere I am going to try to make sure I am on top of getting it done this year.
