Social Distancing

Many governments have instituted social distancing during this pandemic by the request of medical leaders. I am not trying to cause any extra level of panic. I just want to provide some facts I have found on the internet.

Does it work or not?

There is an Italian town of 3,300 that has drastically reduced the COVID-19 infection level to zero. How did this town do it? First, they did a radically placed did a lockdown of all their residents and did a testing mass testing. It found out that 3% (99 individuals) had the virus. This town has isolated these cases, and the township reopened. After the two weeks of isolation, there was only 0.25% (8 individuals) were still infected.

With this fact, can a large population do the same thing?

I say, yes. How can it be done? We can look at what I call the tail of Two American Cities. During the Spanish Flu back in 1918, two major cities in the US took two different steps. Both were informed about that Flu. One just went and blew it off and went, as usual, going forward with their parade and large gathering. Walla, thousands started to die. About six months later, about 16,000 people had died. The second city that heard quickly jumped into action and implemented social isolation plan. They closed schools, limited travel, and encourage personal hygiene. As a result, this city just saw around 2,000 deaths.

Why should we do so?

By doing this, we will be helping not just ourselves, our loved ones, the community we connected. And most of all, we will be assisting the medical personal to get atop of this.

  • By helping ourselves, we will know that we can reduce our chance of getting, especially if we may have any medical issues.
  • By helping our loved ones, we will reduce the chance of being a carrier and giving it to them. As above, especially if they may have any medical problems.
  • By helping our community and our medical infrastructures, we will be giving them a hand to get on top of it and be able to cap the number count at lower numbers.
  • We will also be helping all levels of the supply chain on our planet. That is from our local to the planet level. When we help our local level reducing the need for the supplies that are needed, we will also be assisting the amounts to be directed where they are needed most. Then to a quicker end.

By doing the simple steps that each of our medical leaders have provided, we will not just be helping ourselves, we will also be supporting all of those around us. Or do we want to be known for not caring? Others may not see it, and it will be in our hearts. We may all have a feeling of how to change our planet for the better. This is one way we can help to do so.

Are you up to it?
