Imbolc in the Southern Hemisphere

IMBOLC ~ 1ST AUGUST

Imbolc is a cross-quarter day midway between the winter solstice (Yule) and the spring equinox (Ostara) and is the celebration of the banishing of winter, the imminent arrival of Spring and the stirring of new life in the earth. Imbolc recognizes the maiden aspect of the triple goddess – the fresh, the young, the naïve, the new – and is strongly connected with the Goddess Brigid. It is associated with and also known as the festivals of Oimelc, Imbolg, Imbolic (Irish), Candlemas (British), Feast of Torches, Lupercalia (Italian/Latin), Brigid’s Day, and Brigantia (Scottish).

Energy Flips: How Haters Make You Stronger

Recently, I’ve discovered that there are a handful of people who really dislike non-traditional (eclectic) witchcraft, and want to tell me how wrong I am for following my intuition.  My practice and I have both been denigrated and called names.  If I were to react to them, it’d eat a lot of my energy and time, and it’s not my mission to interact with haters.  I’ve found another way to deal with the trolls.  It’s called an “energy flip.”

Everyone Needs Some Me Time to Relax and Center

We all have days we wish we could just hibernate and hide from everyone. This is when you need to have a special care package ready to go to relax you physically and mentally and recenter yourself spiritually.

I have a small kit made up in advance for when I take this me time. Mine includes a long incense sticks or cones of either sandalwood or jasmine (lavender is also very good for relaxing with), my favorite Celtic music bookmarked on my computer to find it easier, a big handful of my favorite Epsom salts in a Ziploc type bag or other holder, a smudge stick, a bar of scents soap, a black taper and a white taper candle, my favorite lotion, and a robe (type depends on the temperature in my home). I also shut off my cell/mobile phone and anything else that someone could call me on like Skype.

Allow a minimum of 2 hours for yourself to get the benefits you deserve.

I do a smudging in my den and bathroom and also myself. Then get into my usually hot bath with the salts. I soak for a while until I feel my muscles completely relax m(draining cooled water and adding more hot if I feel the need to) than I use one of my scented soaps to wash with (my hair is tied up because I wash it in the sink before getting into my bath or just leave dry, no one says you have to wash your hair just because you take a bath). After getting out of the bath and drying off I rub lotion on every part of my body I can comfortably reach just to feel the wonder of what the deities choose to make us into thousands of years ago.

Then if I feel like it put on my robe and go into my den or bedroom. Depending on my mood whether I stay in the robe or lay down skyclad.

Once in my den or bedroom,  I have a small table next to the daybed in my den so the black candle is set on the southwest corner and the white in the northeast. I light the black candle first asking Hades and Persephone to take away all the negative energy, anger, resentment, envy, etc I may still be harboring inside myself.  Next, I  light the white candle asking Ra and Mother Earth to fill me with love, positive energy and to be grounded. I then light the incense I choose while enjoying the scent of the incense and listening to the music  I do a relaxation technique (which I will describe below) and then I let my mind to float free not focusing on any one thought especially if it is a negative one. I usually wind up falling asleep and many times have had messages and/or vision brought to me by my ancestors, guides, some deities. These dreams I write down what I can remember of them when I awaken. The dreaming does not happen every time.

The two most important things to take away from this experience is one does not feel guilty for taking the time to pamper and nurture yourself because we all need to. The other thing is to take a is relaxed, centered mind, body, and spirit from reconnecting them all.

RELATION TECHNIQUE: Starting with your toes and working up the body tighten each muscle as you take as deep a breath as you can then allow the muscle to completely relax as you slowly exhale all the air you took in. This should take you at least 15 to 20 minutes to get all your muscles relaxed and your mind to slow down.

Millennial Witch: The ‘First Fruits’ of a Modern Lughnasadh

Autumn Sabbats have always been special to me. Not just because of Halloween/Samhain, but also because of Mabon, and most importantly, Lughnasadh.

The First Harvest Festival of the Year, Lughnasadh (also commonly called Lammas) is most often celebrated around August 1st. (Though in some Druid and Celtic Pagan circles, it is the full moon closest to that date.) It marks the time when the grain was harvested, lammas bread was given to the barn corners, and in some Pagan circles, The Harvest God dies. In certain cases, this holiday is overlooked for it’s two successors, but I firmly believe we shouldn’t bypass this first harvest time.

We’re Going Home! We’re Going Home! The Time Has Finally Come!

Witches Of The Craft®

I wanted to let you know that we will be off the internet for the next few days because……

WE ARE GOING HOME!

If you remember my house was burnt to the ground last Fall by a man who had been stalking me. I was in the hospital for several weeks and had several complications from having to exit my cabin through the second floor window. Well, after all we have been through, the boys and I are now getting to go home. Lord M has worked the contractors and the construction workers from morning to night. The inside of my cabin is now finishsed. All that needs to be done is put on the front porch and finish the back screened in porch. Lord M asked the contractors if we moved back in now if we would be in the way. The contractors answered with a big “NO!” We…

Imbolc in the S.H-

Bright Imbolc Blessings and may we now begin to look forward to warmer days and brightly coloured gardens.  May we bless and burn the candles of inspiration, love and communion with the Great God and Goddess.

This is the time for the beginning of the beginning and a wonderful time to consider what you will do in the year ahead. It is also a time of purification, therefore taking a bath or even a shower and visualising all the heavy energy leaving your body and bright light filling your body.

Its a time of the life force stirring again, where nature shows its beginning of its glory and the recycle of life through buds and shoots.

It marks the Goddess giving birth to the newborn God, where He grows and spreads his light. We are gathered here to honour the feminine and get ready for spring.

If you are in a part of the Southern Hemisphere where Wattle grows, this may be the time to pick some with reverence and decorate your alter.

Lammas in the N.H-

As the day marking the first harvest of early grain, this is a good time to bake your own bread. The loaf that is broken and shared in the name of the Goddess.

This is a time of great change that needs to take place in one’s life.

The Great God gives his energy to the crops to ensure life, while the Great Goddess prepares to enter Her Crone aspect, the Great God slowly loses his strength and it’s a time for the days to grow shorter.

If you are in the Northern Hemisphere you may want to decorate your alter with grains and wheat, husks and freshly baked breads, corn dollies and fruit.

Protect us Great Mother and Great God for all gathered here and those afar who are unable to be with us. Allow no negative energy to touch us, to harm us and that nothing we call upon will harm us and others. We come together in perfect love and perfect trust.

For those in the Southern Hemisphere please begin to meditate for 2 minutes on how you will refresh your mind and energy for the coming of spring and summer. Imagine new beginnings for yourself and your loved ones. Bring in the light and the love into your life. Allow the light of love to wash over you.

Now to the Northern hemisphere

Lammas in the N.H-

  • Now is the time to light your orange candle

Take a handful of grain and face the East, the land of the rising Sun God.

And Say

Now let us honour the Goddess in all of her fullness. Because of her nurturing we are blessed with the fruitfulness and the Divine Gods energy wanes. As the mother of all nature, we love and adore her with fullest honour and are in reverence that she chooses to share her power of beneficence.

Now:

Rub the grains in your hands and allow them to fall on the ground or on your alter cloth.

Take a piece of fruit, taste it and appreciate and saviour its flavour.

And Say:

“As the energies of the Goddess become ours, we are one with the fruits of the harvest. Hail Great and Divine Goddess of the Moon, Great Mother of all creation, and Hail to the Sun Lord and light our path with your pure light of goodness. May all your harvests be bountiful.”

Everyone-

Feast on the fruit and seeds.

2 Minute Meditation

Spend some time meditating on the sense of community bought about in the sharing of the fruits of the land.

For those in the Northern hemisphere think about the bounty that fills your life. What are you getting ready to harvest? Have you taken time over the summer to enjoy the fruits of your labor? How are you preparing to shift into the darkness of the coming months?
