Magick House

Hi guys so I’ve been recovering from my shoulder surgery and man has this been rough. You see many years ago due to PTSD I had to go on a sleeping medication by the name of Ambien and it had been working for the last 27 years but when I had shoulder surgery I could not have Ambien and the pain medication it would cause fatalities so my doctors took me off of the medication Ambien and left me on the medication for pain.  I have found the last 15 days I could not sleep the pain is intense at night mostly due to the location of the surgery and positioning in my bed. I cannot get comfortable no matter what I do and to top it off the pain med put me into A panic sleep so that being said I haven’t slept deeply for 15 days. I sleep maybe…

1 White Candle- your choice of size

Candle Holder

Matches or Lighter

Since the winter months are upon us I wanted to do this ritual to keep the warmth in our homes and for those that need warmth in theirs.
IsBear :Merry meet the December Esbats ritual will now begin. I’m IsBear from Canada
EVERYONE: Would each person state their first name and what country or state they are from
IsBear: I here by cast this circle three times three, to bring us into a place of peace and harmony.
I ask that Artemis give us protection within this circle and to those out side of it.
As the colder months are upon us we light our candles to bring warmth into our homes, and to those that need it.
EVERYONE: Light your candle.
Now we will take two minutes to meditate and envision our homes and those of others staying warm throughout the winter months. Blow out the candle. (You may relight the candle as many times as you choose and use it to meditate for this same thing)
IsBear: So Mote It Be
IsBear: We thank you Artemis for your protection of those within, and out of this circle. This circle is open but not unbroken.
Tonight’s ritual is now complete. You may all go in peace. Much love and many blessings!

The true meaning of Paganism

(Side note: While reading this article keep in mind that The views are this author’s theories on the true meaning of paganism. You may find article written by other with a different theory. CL does not endorse any article over another.)

The word “paganism” has come to refer to various pre-Christian religions belonging to a number of ancient cultures—those from Greece, Rome, Egypt, Scandinavia, and so on.  It has come to also represent, in some circles, the modern ideology of Wicca and the followers of revived versions of the old practices.  The truth about “paganism”, however, is that it is a historically inaccurate phrase in the context of these aforementioned faiths.  Although it is now the accepted term for these religions, it is important to examine where the word truly came from and what it initially meant, allowing for a better, all-inclusive understanding of the world’s religious past.

The term “paganism” was revived during the Renaissance when writers were trying to differentiate the old traditions from their contemporary Christian faith.  The term itself stems from the Latin paganustranslated loosely along the lines of “country dweller” or “rustic”; thus it was initially a word describing a person of locality rather than a religion.  However, because of its usage in ancient texts, medieval authors mistakenly believed it referenced a religious sect and thereby gave it the corresponding connotation.  In actuality, there was a different word used to describe the “pagans” as they are called today, and that word too stemmed first and foremost from the location of the religious supporters.

According to scholar Peter Brown of Princeton University,…

Un-Othering Witchcraft

I often talk about the Other and Witchcraft a lot on this blog.  We tend to be the marginal folks, and sometimes we wear that as a badge of pride.  We might say things like:  “We’re different from those people.  They don’t understand us.  It’s always been this way. We’re revolutionary.”

But what if the revolution involves un-othering Witchcraft?  What if that is a solution to many issues facing humanity?  What does that mean?

A Thought for Today

We all have negative things happen in our lives and negative people that try to put us down. This is a picture my younger daughter sent to me when I was going through a nasty divorce many, many years ag ho. I was getting rid of an abuser and found this very helpful and to the point. I hope if you are in need of “hearing” the words that they help the way they have helped me.

Blessed be dear ones.

Runes of Odin ( 3. THURISAZ)

Galdr :  http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/galdr.html

Shamanic Journey with the Rune : http://www.northernshamanism.org/pathwalking-with-runes.html

Thurisaz means : chaos, temptation, Thor`s hammer, devil, thorn, geteway, transition to something new

Stone : Sapfire

Colour : bright red

Element : Fire

God : Thor

Planet : Mars

Tree  : hawthorn

Plant : Sempervivum

This rune is useful when you are attacked or chased or when you face challenges. The Rune makes the people that act against you negligent when they have to be careful, this rune can weaken them or drive them mad. It increases the fears in people that have already had fears. Thurisaz can be your powerful ally as it is focused Cosmic Power for Defence. It symbolises Thor`s hammer Mjollnir. Thurisaz is pure will. Its power is able to direct the energies most efficiently. Use it when it is necessary to add more power to accomplish your task. This is also the Rune of the New Beginnings, the Rune of the Gate. Use it when you need good luck or when the circumstances are out of your control.  Thurisaz neutralizes your enemies and the opposition. It is the Rune of the active defence. It breaks  the curses and the enemies. Thurisaz awakens your  willingness  to act. The energy of the Rune Thurisaz can be used for chaos or for good, the rune represents the hidden forces of the human psyche as lust and anger.

Divinations : You are under a threat that is coming from people  of power and authority. You have to overcome the temptations to get rich due to trickery.  It symbolises the thorn as a weapon , the thorn can hurt, it can stick and pin, but it also can defend you  like a fence made of iron thorns.  It also may symbolise the unexpected good  luck, but in general it indicates that the good luck is leaving you.

You have the inner power to face every challenge and you have the power to determine your fate and to control your life. Do not fear anything and do not allow anyone to distract you from your quest towards the truth. You are powerful in Spirit and it is you who chose how to use this power of yours.

Recommendation :  Use the rune Thurisaz in a loving, careful and unconditional way. The Power may do you harm if you do not use it honestly and with pure heart.

Reverse meaning : it it a sign for good, the bad thing can be overcome, the danger you are facing now is not that big.

Converse meaning : the devil is hidden

Use : This is a nasty little rune that sets obstacles before your enemy`s steps. This rune can hurt the one who chases you.  Use it in emergencies.  It is especially effective when drawn on bushes with thorns or thick plants, groups of trees in rough terrains/areas, on roots or thick plants, the rune make the plants get thicker and to attack everything that strives to pass through them. The power of Thurisaz is not so big when it is drawn on a flat ground but even there it may cause little rough stones to get into the shoes of the one who chases you and thus to slow them. Draw it always behind you and never in front of you. To see how to draw it with your fingers , see the second link above.

Blessings of Peace and Good Luck

Until we merry meet again

We of the Old Religion have our own particular compact with our deities that charges simply, “An it harm none, do as ye will.”

And our gods do not despise us for being human but delight in our celebrations of life and love. We are ageless souls, only for awhile within bodies – merely visitors upon this plane.

We are brothers to the gods and only temporarily cousins to the ape, and our lives belong to us, not to this world nor to its earthly governors.

We are not doomed to shame and decay; not lost; not indentured to perish with earthly manifestations; not disposed to eternal misery for any past or present lapses of courage or wisdom.

We are as children in the school of life who must learn our lessons, on life at a time, before we graduate.

Our lives span the march of time…
