Perform an Earth Meditation Ritual

“Try this simple meditation to help you attune to theelement of Earth. To do this meditation, find a place where you can sit quietly, undisturbed, on a day when the sun is shining. Ideally, it should be in a place where you can really connect with everything that Earth represents. Perhaps it’s a hillside outside of town, or a shady grove in your local park. Maybe it’s somewhere deep in the woods, under a tree, or even your own back yard.

Find your spot, and make yourself comfortable. If you haven’t read Meditation 101 yet, go ahead and do so before you begin.

Sit or lie on the ground, so that as much of your body as possible is in direct contact with the ground. Use all of your senses to attune to Earth. Relax your body and breathe slowly, through your nose, and taking in the scents around you.”

Samhain – Day 11

As we get closer to Samhain and the veil between worlds/plains thins, do not be surprised if you dream of people you think you should know but really don’t. These may be long dead ancestors trying to reach out to talk to you or warn you of something coming or just want to let you know they are watching over you. This is a good time to start a dream journal. Keep a notebook and something to write with beside your bed as soon as you wake up from a dream write the date and everything you remember from the dream. Do not try to fill it in to make more logical sense as dreams are rarely logicl.

Besides the term Summerland for where people go after their spirit has left the physical body some people use the terms Spirit World or Spirit Plain or even Spirit Realm. I suggest you find one you like the sound of and it feels right for you to use and stick with that one. I personally usually use Spirit World.

This is a good time to start meditating if you do not already do so. A simple way to ease yourself into meditation is to start by sitting in a quiet room everyday for five minutes and try to clear your mind of all the day to day stuff (for example-What should we have for dinner tonight?). To start this could even be in your bathroom sitting on a towel on the floor if you can. Or if you have children waiting until they are down for the night and before you join your significant other if you have one sit on your bed or if that’s already has a person in it use any other room in your home. I have found the few man-made things between Mother Earth and myself the easier it is to clear my mind. Gradually work yourself up in five-minute intervals to the amount of time you want your meditation time to last.

Meditation time is a great time to ask your ancestors and/or Spirit Guides questions and quietly wait to “hear” their answer. Do not be discouraged if you do not get an answer right away. There are a few reasons for this with this top one in my book you are not ready for the answer. Remember the people in the Spirit World do not have time constrictions like we have. You may not get the answer to your question for a while, i.e. the time is right. The answer may come to you even when you are not meditating, it may come in the form of a stray thought or a gut feeling. Meditation helps open us up psychically.

If you know how to cleanse your Chakras I suggest you do this before each meditation to make sure your Third-Eye (the Chakra located in the area of your forehead) is clear and open to help you receive messages from the Spirit World.

As you feel more comfortable meditating you may want to add some quite music such as an instrumental or a chant. Stay away from regular songs with vocals like country, rock, etc. You may want to use a candle (do not stare directly at the flame but look through the flame at the top of it) or you may want to use something else as a focus point to keep your mind on track.
